So ‘George & Jonathan’ played their first ‘show’ opening for GZA/Genius of the Wu-Tang Clan last night at UCLA. Audience reaction ran the gamut from pleasure to confusion. The GZA was like a full hour late for the show because he ‘stopped to have some drinks at the W.’
After the performance, him and a bunch of his hype men were standing outside the venue … I timidly asked if he’d mind snapping a photograph with me and the portrait of Jon Baken I’d placed on stage. “M-M-Mr. Genius? … I was your opening act.” He agreed, though out of the three digital cameras at the scene, not a one had a motherfucking flash. But its him, I swear. Videos soon.
